The Cathodic Protection Intelligent Test Station is an emerging product of IoT information technology. Traditional test stations previously required manual on-site measurements, primarily collecting the cathodic protection potential of pipelines. This not only resulted in low work efficiency and data accuracy but also made data collection highly susceptible to environmental factors, with cumbersome data reporting and statistics. To align with the development trend of intelligent pipeline cathodic protection, our company has independently developed a new intelligent test station. This station utilizes advanced technologies to enable diversified, automated, intelligent, and remote collection of cathodic protection data, significantly improving the work efficiency and safety of pipeline cathodic protection maintenance personnel.
The new intelligent cathodic protection test station can automatically measure cathodic protection data such as pipeline cathodic protection potential, natural potential, and instant-off potential. It can also detect interference data from stray currents on the pipeline, such as AC-induced voltage and AC stray current density, providing managers with comprehensive data to thoroughly eliminate stray current interference and ensure the stable operation of the pipeline.
By integrating with buried long-term reference electrodes and test coupons, the intelligent test station collects data including pipeline ON-potential, corrosion potential, instant-off potential, AC interference voltage, and AC stray current. The data is processed through the device's high-precision operational amplifier circuit and A/D conversion circuit, converting it into binary data recognizable by computers. After processing, packaging, and transcoding by the CPU, the data is transmitted to the server via an onboard 4G communication module for parsing and storage. Clients can simply log in to the B/S architecture software page using a browser to view cathodic protection data from various pipeline test points.
Traditional test stations mainly rely on manual field measurements using instruments like multimeters for cathodic protection data collection. This approach results in limited data types, low efficiency, poor reliability, and high risks, making it difficult to meet the growing demand for monitoring cathodic protection data in long-distance pipelines.
The intelligent cathodic protection test station effectively reduces the human and material resources invested in monitoring the cathodic protection effectiveness of long-distance pipelines. It simultaneously enhances the timeliness and reliability of data transmission, lowers the management and operational maintenance costs of the cathodic protection system, and enables integrity management and multi-method monitoring of high-risk areas.
